Materials Chemical Analysis

BOC Sciences' wet chemistry laboratory is very versatile and is able to provide material analysis services in many areas, from metallic raw materials and polymers to engineering and construction materials. The test methods used by our experts comply with the requirements of international scientific bodies such as AOAC, ASTM, ISO, AFNOR, DIN, etc., depending on the specific material to be tested. Wet chemical methods have a wide range of applications. They are often used for batch release testing and material certification, including:

Materials Chemical Analysis

  • Molecular weight analysis
  • Quality control assurance
  • Filler content segregation
  • Additive package segregation
  • Acid/base content determination

Our Services

  • Total elemental analysis of steel, aluminum, lead, copper and nickel alloys
  • Characterization of material surfaces for products with defects
  • Quality control of raw materials, intermediate and final products
  • Analysis of concrete, such as cement content, potential reactivity, etc.
  • Analysis of packaging and packaging materials

Metals Wet Chemistry Analysis

We offer expertise in wet chemical testing techniques for a variety of metals. We are able to provide precise and accurate test analyses of your metallic materials using classical wet chemistry knowledge. Our metal analysis services include:

  • Precious Metal Analysis

Our precious metal testing analysis identifies a wide range of precious metals including gold, iridium, platinum and silver.

  • Determination of Gas Content in Metallic Materials

BOC Sciences is able to determine the gas content in ferrous and non-ferrous materials using inert gas fusion techniques.

Polymeric Material Wet Chemistry Analysis

Wet chemistry methods have been widely applied in the characterization and analysis of polymeric materials. Combined with rich experience in a wet chemistry laboratory environment, particularly in the areas of organic chemistry, polymer synthesis, coatings and/or foams, we are able to determine basic polymer chemical structure information, helping our customers understand, manage and improve the performance of their materials and products.

Products Deformulation & Reformulation

Deformation refers to the process of separating a formulated chemical or material product, and determining its constituents, identifying and quantifying each component so that the end result becomes a product formulation. At BOC Sciences, our advanced wet chemistry knowledge-based analysis and extraction techniques allow us to successfully reverse engineer hundreds of formulations for a large number of products, and provide detailed information on the identity and quantity of ingredients.

Surface Analysis & Modification

Physical and chemical analysis of material surfaces is critical to understanding how they react with the process environment or at the interface where two different materials come into contact. We are able to provide accurate surface tension measurements and crosslink density determinations. In addition, there is also significant increase in roughness and hydrophobicity/hydrophilicity of the surfaces of products modified and surface functionalized by wet chemical methods of surface analysis.

Our Analysis Procedure

  • Perform chemical and electrochemical tests on a variety of materials in an aqueous environment
  • Document and analyze induced changes resulting from chemical and electrochemical reactions
  • Support basic and advanced studies of materials properties by performing electrochemical tests related to corrosion, batteries, energy storage and generation, sensors, microelectronics, semiconductors, and passive thin films
